Here’s a look at today’s local sports schedule
We are still waiting for the word from Galesburg High School about the time and location for this week’s varsity and sophomore football games with Rock Island Alleman. Work continues on the new stadium complex that is supposed to be the host site for the Western Big 6 game, but question marks remain about its’ readiness for use this weekend. Possible alternate sites that have been rumored include Knoxville High School on Saturday afternoon, or one of the Quad City venues that is not being used Friday night. Knox College is unavailable because there are no lights for a night game, and the Prairie Fire have a home game Saturday afternoon against Eureka. GHS athletic director Ralph Henning was in a meeting in the Quad Cities this morning, and will let us know as soon as a decision is made.
The area athletic schedule is very light on this Wednesday. The golf schedule shows the Monmouth-Roseville boys at Macomb, and the Mid-County boys playing against North Fulton and Elmwood.
In cross-country, the annual Prime Beef Festival run will take place ahead of the parade in Monmouth.
