Curtis, Wayne L.

Wayne Lewis Curtis, 44 of Abingdon, died at 12:14 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

He was born on November 11, 1969 in Silvis, Illinois, the son of Richard D. and Ethel May Noble Curtis. He married Elizabeth Colclasure on August 1, 2009 in Abingdon.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; one daughter, Jennifer Curtis of Macomb; two sons, Ryan Curtis of Galesburg and Brad Curtis at home; his stepfather and mother, Bill and Ethel Curtis Sandidge of rural Galesburg; four brothers, Wendell (Jerri Lyn) Curtis of Andover, Wilbur (Terasa) Curtis of Florida, Wesley Curtis of rural Galesburg, and Happy (Carmen) Curtis of Texas; two sisters, Veronica Curtis of Manchester, Iowa and Valerie Herren of Galesburg. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1987. He had lived in the Abingdon and Galesburg areas most of his life. He worked as the manager of food services for several restaurants in Galesburg, most recently at Hy-Vee on National Boulevard. He attended First Assembly of God in Abingdon.

Wayne was an “Awesome” husband and dad. He enjoyed cooking for his family and he had a great sense of humor. He also worked on cars and did wood working.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2014 at the First Assembly of God, 835 W. Martin St. in Abingdon with Rev. Russ Witkowski officiating. Burial will follow in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
