Bean, Vernon D.

Vernon D. Bean, 86 of Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:20 pm Friday, September 26, 2014 in Morton Terrace, Morton, Illinois.

Vernon was born October 23, 1927 in Liberty, Illinois the son of T. “Guy” Bean and Marie Gates Bean. He married Nova Wiese on July 23, 1953 in Sac City, Iowa. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Ricky J. Bean of Dunlap, Illinois and Mark A. (and Neta) Bean of Peoria, Illinois; three daughters, Linda M. (and Robert) Rupert of Galesburg, Susan D. (and Robin) Johnson of Dunlap and Wendy G. Junk of Peoria; four sisters, Wanda (and Jim) Parrish of New Carlisle, Ohio, Betty Dawson of Galesburg, Barbara (and Robert) LaFollette of Galesburg and Joyce Bean of Galesburg; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, a sister and one granddaughter, Delaney Bean.

Vernon lived in Wataga a number of years before moving to Galesburg in 1950. He attended Wataga High School, graduating in 1946. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

After his time in the military, he worked in Quality Control for Gale Products for 37 years.

A graveside service will be 11:30 am Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in the Wataga Cemetery with Military Rites by the Ralph M. Nobel American Legion. The Rev. Robert Franek will officiate. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 am Tuesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson–West Chapel in Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association..
