Fundenberger, Audrey M.

Audrey M. “Peg” Fundenberger, 89, of Galesburg, died at 10:37 a. m. Thursday, October 16, 2014, at her home.

She was born on November 18, 1924, in East Galesburg, Illinois. She was born to Carl Edgar and Carrie Bessie Carlson Anderson. She married Robert Earl Fundenberger on November 29, 1942, in First Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1983.

She is survived by three daughters, Susan Thor of Galesburg, Carlee (and George) Hoffman of Lone Tree, Colorado, and Ann (and Ray Hess) of Fort Collins, Colorado; one sister, Eileene Christensen of Schnectady, New York; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two nephews and seven nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Johnette Smith and Carolyn Kauffman; and brother, Larry Anderson.

Peg worked as the receptionist for the Ross Clinic for 13 years. She graduated from Wataga High School in 1942 and lived in the Wataga and Galesburg area her entire life. She was a member of the former Ladies of the Moose Lodge #880, Senior Circle,and was a Girl Scout leader. Peg enjoyed bridge, golf, knitting, homemaking, and spending time with her family.

Peg was a member of First Lutheran Church. She belonged to the Miriam Circle, Piecemakers’ Sewing Circle and Young at Hearts’ group.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a. m. Monday, October 27, 2014, at First Lutheran Church. Reverend Pam Marolla will officiate. Private family graveside service will be in Linwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to First Lutheran Church or donor’s choice. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
