Boyer, R. Ann

R. Ann Boyer, age 75 of Galesburg, died at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Marigold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Galesburg.

She was born on June 20, 1939 in Monmouth, the daughter of Lee A. and Sarah B. Switzer Poulson. She married J. Vernon Boyer on June 17, 1965 in Hannibal, Missouri. He preceded her in death.

Ann is survived by her companion, Gerald “Jerry” Lambert of Galesburg; six sisters, Amy Atchison, Sally Anderson, Nancy West, Ethel Clark, Mary Carlson and Diana; two aunts, Ruth and Minnie; several nieces and nephews, cousins, step-children, and step-grandchildren.

She grew up in Warren County and moved to Cameron after her mother’s marriage to Herman Murphy. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1957. Ann worked for the State of Illinois in Galesburg, Elgin and Peoria from 1973 to 1991. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Knoxville. She was a member of the Red Hats, the American Legion Auxiliary, was past president of the Berwick War Mothers and she was a past volunteer at the Care Center of Abingdon. She enjoyed bingo and knitting.

To celebrate her life, her funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. David Shreeves will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Monday at the chapel.
