Former District #205 Assistant Superintendent Joel Estes and Knox College Head football coach Damon Tameo are involved in an event to benefit Blessings in a Backpack.

The Knox College and Illinois College football teams worked together on a charitable project in Jacksonville last season. The schools/teams are joining forces once again to benefit the local Blessings in a Backpack program. The event will take place in conjunction with the football game between the teams at the Knosher Bowl. It will not only help gather food for children in need but the children who benefit from the local program will have a chance to run on the field prior to the game. Students from Steele, Nielsen and King schools are invited to lead the Prairie Fire team onto the field. Fans are encouraged to bring a can of chicken soup to the game. The goal is to collect 1400 cans. That would provide enough food for 2 weeks in backpacks.  We talked about the program and event with Joel Estes and Damon Tameo on the WGIL Morning News.
