Reno, Ruby Grace

Ruby Grace Reno, 94 of Galesburg, passed away Tuesday, 11:24 pm October 28, 2014 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born on November 19, 1919 in Galesburg the daughter of Julian and Bessie Happaugh Lawrence. She married Hugh Wayne Reno on August 10, 1940 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2014.

They are the parents of Richard W. (Donna) Reno, Galesburg, Judith A. Calhoun, Woodhull, Ill., and David L. (Barbara) Reno of Bostic, NC. They have seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and one sister.

Ruby was a homemaker. She was a member and treasurer for the Home Extensions Group. She graduated from Galesburg High School and had attended the First Christian Church. Ruby served as a Cub Scout leader for many years. She was a HAM Radio operator, whose call letters were K9SHK. She traveled the Sprint car circuit for 15 years along side her husband who was the mechanic for Sprint car driver Jerry Blundy. Ruby was a Nascar fan and her favorite driver was Jeff Gordan. Ruby really enjoyed spending time with her family and extended family and having good food. She loved to crochet especially baby blankets. Ruby loved feeding the birds and squirrels.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be 10-11 am Saturday at the chapel Burial will be in Warren County Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Defenders of Freedom Veterans Home.
