Cisco, Haldene

Haldene “Hal” Cisco, 90, of Galesburg, died at 2:32 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014 in Seminary Manor.

He was born July 9, 1924 in Wapella Township, DeWitt County, Illinois the son of Lowell and Viola Daisy (Fenner) Cisco. He married Clara Cleora Keithley on November 28, 1954 in Hernando, Mississippi. She preceded him in death June 7, 2002.

He is survived by four children, Deeann Cisco of Beaumont, Texas, Francis “Sid” Cisco of Malta, New York, George (and Tracy) Cisco of Kansas City, Missouri, and Roger (and Kathy) Cisco of Geneva, Illinois; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Leslie Avin Cisco.

Hal worked in the trucking industry for over 35 years. During that time frame, he worked for Pre-Fab Trucking, Cedar Construction, and C & C Trucking. Hal was the caretaker of Hope Cemetery for 18 years and worked for Hippler Garden Service for seven years. He was associated with First Christian Church. Hal was a member of the Teamster’s Union and the Alpha Masonic Lodge. He attended and graduated from Beason High School, where he held the record for 97 consecutive free throws for 40 years.

Hal served in the United States Army during World War II, then served in the Illinois National Guard for several years. He was a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.

Hal’s children would like to extend a special thank you to Doug and Beverly Miller and the staff of Seminary Manor for the care given to their father.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, followed by Masonic Rites at 10:45 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Greg Fitch officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, where Military Rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Unit at Seminary Manor.
