Cheesman, Robert “Robbie” G

Robert G. “Robbie” Cheesman, 40, of Knoxville, died peacefully at 4:58 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

Robbie was born on August 18, 1974 in Galesburg, the son of Ed and Patti Cavanaugh Cheesman.  He married Dawn Sedam on June 25, 1994.  Robbie is survived by his Dad, Ed; his son and daughter, Blake and Brooke Cheesman of Kewanee; two sisters, Becky (Billy) Goedeke of Galesburg and Julie Butler of Cameron; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patti; brother in law, Todd Butler; nephew, Jordan Butler; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Robbie graduated from Galesburg High School in 1992.  He went on to attend Lincoln College and graduated from Spoon River College in 1994.  Robbie also graduated from Illinois State Police Academy in 2001.  Rob worked for R&B Distributers, Lake Bracken Country Club, as assistant pro, and last working as a Knox County Jailer and Sheriff’s Deputy.  In Rob’s free time he enjoyed playing golf and softball, watching the Chicago Cubs, fishing, and riding four wheelers.  Rob will always be remembered as having a smile on his face.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg.  John Bodenhamer, officiating.  Burial will be in Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron, IL.  A celebration will follow at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg. Visitation will be Monday, November 10, 2014 at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m.   Memorials may be made to Shop with a Cop c/o PB and PA 101 or to the family for an education for his children.
