Curry, Kenneth L.

Kenneth L. Curry, age 87 of Abingdon, died at 2:45 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Care Center of Abingdon.

He was born on February 24, 1927 in Delong, the son of Ernest Curry and Dorothy Way Coulter. He married V. Arlene King on April 12, 1946 in Knoxville. Arlene preceded him in death on July 9, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Dean Curry and one nephew.

Kenny is survived by two daughters, Jody Cecil and Kathy Stoneking, both of Abingdon; four grandchildren, Donnie (Patti) Stoneking, Kris Stoneking, Kari Cecil and Leslie (Kent) Jones; and nine great-grandchildren, Kolby, Parker, Gabe, Sam, Ella and Faith Stoneking, Hayley Allison, Madison and Kaden Jones.

He lived in Gilson for several years where he was a volunteer fireman for 45 years and also served as Fire Chief of the department. He was a supervisor at OMC in Galesburg for 16 years and in retirement was a part time truck driver for Collopy Trucking and Inness Farms. He and Arlene moved to Abingdon in 1993. He was a past member of the Abingdon Athletic Booster Club.

Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Robbins will officiate. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
