Herslow, Mildred H.

Mildred H. “Millie” Herslow, 97, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois died at 4:15 PM Saturday November 22, 2014 at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois.

She was born January 7, 1917 in Lafayette, Illinois the daughter of Edward and Cora Norberg Hagerty.
Millie is survived by Dean and Karin Brodie and Vickey Jefferson all of Galesburg whom all took care of her, many nieces and nephews and a friend Patsy Stegens. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Hagerty and Wayne Hagerty and one sister.

She graduated from Altona High School in 1936 where she drove a horse and buggy 14 miles a day and never missed a day during the four years in high school. She lived in the Altona and Lafayette area until moving to Galesburg in 1968. She worked for Federal Bakery, the Giant Store in Galesburg and was a waitress at Teresa’s which was formerly George’s in Knoxville. She retired in 1995 and was of the Presbyterian faith. Millie enjoyed her pets, “going to the boat” and yard sale.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. James Ecklund will officiate. Visitation will be 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
