Bond Reduction Denied in Sexual Assault Case

Bond will not be lowered for a Galesburg man charged with having illegal sexual contact with at least three woman between September and October of this year.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate Judge Paul Mangieri yesterday denied lowering the bond of 28-year-old Aaron Landon.

Landon faces counts in three separate cases filed against him — one count Criminal Sexual Assault in one case, three counts of Criminal Sexual Assault and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse in another, and two counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse in the third.

Landon was arrested in mid-October and has since been charged by a grand jury. He’s accused of fondling one girl under the age of 13, having sexual contact with a girl between the ages of 13 and 17, and having unwanted sexual contact with an adult.

Landon’s public defender had asked for bond to be lowered from $150,000, to $10,000, but Mangieri said no.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for next month, with a potential trial in Mid-January. Landon now remains held in the Knox County Jail.
