LeGate, Virginia B.

Virginia B. LeGate, 94 of Abingdon, died at 9:10 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

She was born on November 13, 1920 in Bushnell, the daughter of Delbert E. and Frances May Morrow Wilson. She married Ralph LeGate on December 23, 1945 in Abingdon. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bob and Delbert and one sister, Clarissa.
Virginia is survived by three daughters, Linda Lou (Leo) Williams of Avon, Brenda Sue (Bob) Scull of Little York and Laura May (Barry) Fisher of Ellisville; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Bushnell High School in 1939. She worked at the Abingdon Pottery and Abingdon Blue Bell, The Junction Restaurant, and Andy Peluso’s Cleaners in Bushnell. She also farmed with her husband near London Mills for many years. She had lived in Abingdon since 1992. She was a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 Auxiliary and she volunteered at Cottage Corner in Galesburg. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting and flower gardening. She loved God and her family and the all the times the family got together.

Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 26, 2014 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Jon Prain will officiate. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
