Bloomer, Emma M.

Emma M. Bloomer, 82, of Maquon, Illinois, died at 11:50 P.M., Sunday, December 21, 2014 at her home.

She was born on June 15, 1932 in Maquon Township, Knox County, Illinois the daughter of James and Blanche E. Burkhalter Platt. She attended Maquon High School and then graduated from Knoxville High School in 1950.

She is survived by a daughter, Debra (Ron) Root of Galva, Illinois and a son, Alan Bloomer of Maquon, Illinois; five grandchildren, Chris Mason of rural Knoxville, Illinois, Jamie (Chad) Way of Gilson, Illinois, Jimmie Bloomer of Maquon, Illinois, Steven (Shelly) Bloomer of Maquon, Illinois and Jennifer (Shaun) Robinson of Galva, Illinois; ten great grandchildren, Brian Bloomer, Matt Bloomer, Caleb Mason, Samantha Bloomer, Colton Way, Emma Way, Gabe Way, Nathan Robinson, Loreyn Robinson, and Brayden Robinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Helen Olson, and one grandson, Brian Root.

She worked for the United States Postal Service as a postmaster for Marietta, London Mills, and retiring from the Maquon Post Office. She attended the Maquon United Methodist Church, and was a former member of the Good Cheer Club of Maquon, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Russ Collister will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Fellowship will be held at the Hurd-Hendricks Fellowship Center following the funeral services. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Maquon Cemetery, Maquon, Illinois.
