Farris, Patsy Ann

Patsy Ann Farris, 77 of Galesburg, died at 5:45 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg.

She was born December 8, 1937 in Avon, the daughter of Guy J. and Lela Mabel Ault McDermet. She married Clarence E. “Bud” Farris on August 4, 1956 in Abingdon. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1971. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Gerald, William, Frankie and an infant stillborn brother, and four sisters, Shirley Ward, Melba Plasters, Wilma Palmiter and infant Audrey McDermet.

Pat is survived by one son, Steven Farris of Anchorage, Alaska; one daughter, Sheila Robbins of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, including Lexi Wells of Knoxville, whom Pat spent a lot of time with; two brothers, Charles (Pam) McDermet of rural Avon and John (Vivian) McDermet of rural Gilson; one sister, Judy (Gordon) French of Galesburg; several nieces and nephews and their families; and her beloved dog, Molly.

She graduated from Roseville High School in 1955. After graduation, she worked at Formfit until February of 1966. She then worked at Maytag in Galesburg for 33 1/4 years, retiring on May 1, 1999. While at Maytag, she served on the board of the Midwest Credit Union. She later worked at Target in Galesburg. She had lived in the Roseville, Abingdon and Galesburg areas most of her life. She enjoyed shopping, going to the area River Boats and spending time with her friends.

Cremation will be accorded. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Jim Reynolds will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
