Parsons, Dale E.

Dale E. Parsons, age 82 of Galesburg, Illinois died at 12:12 P.M. on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois.

He was born on July 6, 1932 to Russell F. and Margaret P. Buchanan Parsons, at the age of thirteen he was raised by Floyd and Louise Lindsey. He attended and graduated from Bardolph High School in 1952 in Bardolph, Illinois. He married Carolyn McGinn on June 25, 1966 in Camp Grove, Illinois.

Surviving is a daughter, Michelle L. Parsons of Galesburg, Illinois, and a son Michael E. (Suzanne) Parsons; grandsons: Patrick Parsons of West Peoria, Illinois and Nicholas McMahill of Galesburg, Illinois; brothers and sisters: Don R. Parsons of Chandler, Arizona, Betty Louise Doll of Moore, Oklahoma, Mary Lois Parsons of Dothan, Alabama, Sharon Ann Bean of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Judy Kay Tiffany of Venice Beach, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Russell F. Parsons, Jr., Robert Lee Parsons, Charles Allan Parsons, Larry Parsons, Sr., and a sister: Donna Jean Parsons.

He spent forty years in the shoes and clothing retail business, once owning Dale Parsons Ltd, from 1975 to 1979 in Lacon, Illinois. He then was executive director of Stone Hayes, Center for Independent Living in Galesburg, Illinois.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus, Past Grand Knight and Trustee; member of the Knox County Board, serving on the Knox County Nursing Home Committee, Highway Committee and the Knox County Housing Authority; Boys and Girls Club of Knox County; Carver Community Action Agency; Prairie Hill Resource Conservation Development Council; Stone Hayes Living Center, Galesburg, Illinois. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.

Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg, Illinois. Monsignor Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. In-Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Family. Inurnment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Galesburg, Illinois.
