New Details Released in Fatal Knox County Accident

Breaking NewsPOSTED 9:42am 2/11/15  The Knox County Sheriffs Department has released more details into an accident south of Woodhull and Northwest of Oneida yesterday afternoon.

The Sheriffs Department says deputies were called to the intersection of Knox County Highways 2 and 6 around 3:30 yesterday afternoon for a two-vehicle accident.  Deputies believe a silver Toyota driven by 20-year-old Chloie Unger of Peoria was northbound on Highway 6 when the vehicle collided with a Red Dodge driven by 23-year-old Clinton Miles of Bishop Hill headed westbound on Highway 2.  Sheriff David Clague said last night the two vehicles were found in a corn field.

Unger’s passenger — 24-year-old Kylie Blickem of Wataga — and Miles’ passenger — 19-year-old Wyatt Obermeier of Cambridge — were pronounced dead at the scene by Knox County Coroner Mark Thomas.

Miles was transported by helicopter to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, while Unger was taken to OSF Saint Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. Both are being treated for what deputies call non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriffs deputies and a State Police Accident Reconstruction Team are continuing to investigate the crash. It’s not clear if charges will be filed.
