Palmer, Jean Ann

Jean Ann “Jeanie” Palmer, 53, of Bloomington, Ill. passed from this earthly life into the eternal peace of her savior Jesus Christ’s loving arms 9:55 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2015.

She was born October 18, 1961 in Galesburg, Ill. the daughter of Duane and Beverly Ann Foster Palmer.

Jeanie was a graduate of Galesburg High School and Murray State University, Kentucky. She worked as a Health Underwriter for State Farm Insurance before leaving to devote full time to raising her two children; Daughter, Nicole Mellican of Canton, Ill. and son Joshua Mellican of Washington, Ill. She returned to again work for State Farm after her children completed school. Health problems forced her to leave the work force in 2010. She was a kind and loving person who was devoted to her family. Before her health declined, she actively volunteered her time to many causes, including the Washington Band Boosters, Special Olympics and the Downs Syndrome Assoc.

She is survived by her daughter Nicole, her son Joshua and wife Jessica, her parents Beverly and Duane Palmer of The Villages, Fl., a sister Kay Palmer of Bloomington, Il., a brother Stephen Palmer of Monument, Co., her dearest lifelong friend Teri Ehrenhardt of Eureka, Il., her uncle Wayne Palmer of Knoxville Ill. her aunts Phyllis McDaniels of Canton, Il and Martha Martin of Colchester Il.

Memorial services will be at 6:00PM Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Crossroads Methodist Church, Washington, IL with Rev. Casey Taylor officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 6:00 PM Friday at the Church. A private graveside memorial service will be Saturday, February 21, 2015 in the Abingdon Cemetery, Abingdon, Ill. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Assoc., Shriners Hospital for Children or a charity of the donor’s choice. Hinchliff Pearson West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
