Jacobs, Margo S.

Margo S. Templeton Jacobs, 74, of Sun City, Arizona and Galesburg, died at 10:21 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in Boswell Hospital in Sun City.

She was born March 28, 1940 in Galesburg, the daughter of Clarence L. and Mary Abbie (Simpkins) Templeton. She married Raymond F. Jacobs on June 10, 1962 in Central Congregational Church in Galesburg.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond, of 52 years; a brother, Harvey W. (and Nancy) Templeton of Galesburg; two sisters, Caroline Adolphson and Bonnie (and Larry) Reid, both of Galesburg; a God son, Anthony Shragal of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clarence J. Templeton and George Templeton; two sisters, Christina E. “Betty” Luper and Mary Jane Bell; and a brother-in-law, Emil Adolphson.

She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1958. She worked as an operator for Intra State Telephone Company for 21 years. In 1981, she and Ray moved to Green Valley, Arizona, where she was very active in the Green Valley Community Church and also volunteered at Schuarita School in Schuarita, Arizona. She operated her own business as a personal care giver for 25 years. In 2006, she and Ray started splitting their time between Sun City and Galesburg.

Margo was an active member of Central Congregational Church in Galesburg for over 50 years and also an active member of the Sun City Congregational Church. She volunteered her time with the American Legion and Salvation Army while in Galesburg. Margo enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. She was a beloved aunt of many. Her goal in life was helping others who needed a lift or a simple smile. She was an avid sports fan.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the chapel with Rev. Jim Ecklund officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Congregational Church Abbie Templeton Organ Memorial Fund or the Salvation Army.
