Underwood, Dolores M.

Dolores M. “Dee” Underwood, 85, of Galesburg, died at 5:34 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 in Seminary Manor.

She was born August 13, 1929 in Streator, Illinois the daughter of George L. and Anne (Pavlick) Masley. She married Marion J. Ramza on September 3, 1949 in Streator. He preceded her in death July 10, 1970. She later married Alfred E. “Doc” Underwood on August 12, 1980 in Cambridge, Illinois.

She is survived by her husband, Doc; three sons, Richard (Kate) Ramza of Moline, Illinois, Dr. Brian (Susan) Ramza of Mission Woods, Kansas, and Dr. Justin Ramza of Rockford, Illinois; a step-son, Michael Underwood of Trilby, Florida; a step-daughter, Debra (Norman) Marshburn of Dade City, Florida; six grandchildren, Michelle Gansen, Nicole Ramza, Jessica Tetter, Emily Ramza, John Ramza, and Nicholas Ramza; three great grandchildren, Hayden, Dylan, and Sydney Gansen; and two sisters, Louise (Edward) Coughlin of Falcon, Missouri and Mary Ann (Kenneth) Burk of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brother and sister-in-law, George T. and Marcella Masley.

Dee was first and foremost a homemaker and later worked as a receptionist for Streator National Bank and as an administrative assistant for the Streator Public Elementary Schools. She was raised and educated in Streator, graduating from Streator High School in 1947. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Galesburg. Dee enjoyed sewing, dancing, and above all fishing.

Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral Mass will follow the visitation at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Streator, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church or Seminary Manor.
