Steele, Cole Richard Lee

Cole Richard Lee Steele, age 20 of Rural Gilson, Illinois died at 12:40 A.M. on Sunday, February 22, 2015 in Rural Williamsfield, Illinois.

He was born on October 20, 1994 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Lee and Stephanie Carlson Steele. He attended Knoxville High Schools, graduating in 2013.

He is survived by his parents, Lee and Stephanie Steele of Rural Gilson, Illinois; his sister, Darla (Chris Donovan) Steele and their special kids, Cade and Grace Donovan, of Knoxville, Illinois and his brother, Dirk (Lindsey) Steele and their children, Haley and Drew Steele, of Maquon, Illinois; grandparents, Carole (and the late James) Steele of Knoxville, Illinois and Richard and Diane Carlson of Altona, Illinois; his girlfriend, Cheyenne Bragg of Gilson, Illinois; best friend, Alex Mallery, Knoxville, Illinois; aunts and uncles, Melissa and Mark Hazen, Emily and Joe Nichols, Christine and Ed Johnson and special aunt and uncle, Andrea and Corey Hanson; many cousins, and friends.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Knoxville, Illinois, Knox County 4-H and the Galesburg Archery Club. He lettered all four years and was captain of the Football Team, the Fishing Team and FFA at the Knoxville High School. He avid outdoorsman, enjoying all outdoor sports, especially deer hunting, and he enjoyed participating in the Demo Derbies.

He attended Carl Sandburg Vocational Welding Program and was currently working with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 25 to receive his apprenticeship.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Jensen Gymnasium at the Knoxville High, Knoxville, Illinois. In honor of Cole’s memories the family encourages wearing camo or blaze orange attire if you chose. Rev. Michel D. Clark will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Jensen Gymnasium at the Knoxville High School, Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville, Illinois or to the Family for a scholarship in his name for his vocation.
