Lettie Ellen Sloan, 89, of Avon passed away at 8:50 PM Wednesday March 4, 2015 at home surrounded by family.
She was born April 5, 1925 in New Cambrie, Missouri the daughter of John Ora and Hattie P. (Prather) Howard. She married James E. Sloan on March 31, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death August 13, 1984.
Surviving are five children, Charles Slone of Avon, IL; Roger (Janice) Slone of Avon, IL; Steven Sloan of Abingdon, IL; Barb (Jim) Bogeart of Macomb, IL; Martha (Dan) Lindsey of Abingdon, IL; one brother, James (Judith) Howard of Elmwood, IL; two sisters, Rita Nichols of Knoxville, IL and Patsy Fox of Sacramento, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, James Sloan; four brothers Ronnie, Lloyd, Elmer and Kenny; five sisters, Lottie, Frances, Wilma, Retha and Elizabeth.
Lettie worked many years at Bluebell in Bushnell and Abingdon; she also worked for over 23 years at Maytag retiring in 1990. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially time spent shopping and dining out.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday March 7, 2015 in the Avon Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Gebbenk officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Galesburg Rescue Mission or Beacon of Hope Hospice. Corman Memorial Home in Avon is in charge of arrangements.
