VanNatta, June

June VanNatta, 79 of Avon, died at 9:20 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the Care Center of Abingdon.

She was born on January 12, 1936 in St. Augustine, the daughter of Kenneth S. and Doris Trulock Gray.  She married Richard VanNatta on August 6, 1954 in Avon.  He preceded her in death on October 10, 1987.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Donna Luper, two brothers, Ronald “Tiny” Gray and Donald Gray, two sisters, her twin sister, Joanne VanNatta and Bernice Hurt.

June is survived by one son, Rich VanNatta of Avon; two daughters, Diane (Steve) Whittemore of Avon and Darla (Troy) Admire of Avon; a son-in-law, Jeff Luper of Avon; seven grandchildren two step-grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; one sister, Margaret Morris of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.

She had lived in the St. Augustine and Avon areas all her life.  She retired from the Avon Nursing Home after 33 years of service working as a nurse aide and later as head of the dietary department.  She was a member of the St. Augustine Christian Church.  She also volunteered for Community Hospice.  She also cooked at the The Junction Restaurant for many years.

Cremation will be accorded.  A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the St. Augustine Christian Church.  Pastor Rodney Fegan will officiate.  Private burial of her ashes will be at a later date in the Avon Cemetery.
