Lynch, Lucinda

Lynch, LucindaLucinda L. Lynch, 90, of Galesburg, went to be with her Lord and her beloved husband, Darrell, at 5:54 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015 in Seminary Manor.

She was born August 11, 1924 in Galesburg, the daughter of Herbert M. and Beatrice (Wright) Allen. She married Darrell J. Lynch on September 21, 1942 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death November 26, 1997.

She is survived by a son, Darrell L. (and Mary) Lynch of Bentonville, Arkansas; three daughters, Sheila (and Rod) Larkins of Knoxville, Illinois, Cheryl A. Payne of Galesburg, and Terri Bell of Stillwater, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two half sisters; one half brother; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson; a granddaughter; two half brothers; and two half sisters.

Lucinda was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1942. During World War II, she lived in Dayton, Ohio where she worked as a secretary and in public relations for Wright Air Force Base. After returning to Galesburg, she worked as a multi-lift operator at Knox College and in public relations at Galesburg Research Hospital.   She and Darrell moved to Arkansas, where Lucinda worked as an assembler at Emerson Electric. She moved back to Galesburg in 2003.

Lucinda was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Galesburg and was involved in many church activities. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, and crocheting.   She loved her family. Everyone who knew her loved her very much.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.   Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 in Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.   Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research or Wounded Warrior Project.   Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
