Father: Quincy Bar Fight Led To 12-year-old ‘s Shooting

QUINCY, Il. (AP) — The father of a 12-year-old Quincy, Illinois boy killed in a weekend shooting says his son was mistakenly targeted for wearing a hooded sweatshirt similar to one worn by a bar fight participant.

Rayshone D. Humphrey Jr. was killed about 1 a.m. Saturday after he was shot in the head outside a Quincy home.

Rayshone Humphrey Sr. tells the Quincy Herald-Whig that his son was wearing a red Polo “hoodie” that resembled one worn by the fight participant.

Police Chief Rob Copley says investigators are looking at that possible connection. He added that police think community members who have not come forward have information about the killing.

The victim was a seventh-grader at Quincy Junior High School.
