Local Church Prepares for Easter Weekend Services

Searching for chocolate bunnies and painted eggs will not be the only events happening this Easter Weekend.

Local churches are preparing for larger crowds as “the biggest day of the year for Christians” arrives.

That’s according to Maple City Baptist Church Associate Pastor Todd Franks..who says Easter is one of the “traditional services that people come out to.”

Franks tells WGIL that the church has special services planned because of the expected crowds.

“We are planning a special service, just to accommodate people as far as dinner plans, and after church plans,” says Franks. “As far as the church service itself–we’re doing the hour service. We expect the balcony to have people in it. Typically we fill the bottom of our sanctuary, but we expect there to be some overflow this weekend–you know I don’t know exactly how many, but lots of time people bring family members and people are traveling, so we’ll see some extra music.”

Franks says the church normally seats around 175 people at a service. He says this weekend could see an increase up to 250.

A “family style service” is expected this weekend. Franks says Easter is a great chance to capitalize on the holiday by providing a quality service.
