Woman’s Suit Over Wrong Sperm Moved to Suburban Chicago

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (AP) — Proceedings are being moved for a lawsuit from a white Ohio woman who says she became pregnant with sperm from a black donor, rather than a white donor as she intended.

The Chicago Tribune reports the suit was filed six months ago in Cook County. Lawyers for the sperm bank successfully argued that the litigation should take place in DuPage County, where the bank is based.

At the time Jennifer Cramblett filed suit, she said she loves her biracial 2-year-old daughter, but she had concerns about raising her in their predominantly white community. One of her attorneys told the newspaper Thursday that she has sold her home and moved in with her mother, with plans to move to a more diverse town.

The sperm bank’s lawyers declined to comment on why they wanted to change the venue.
