Attorney General’s Office to Monitor Illinois Elections

CHICAGO (AP) — Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says her office will be monitoring elections across the state to ensure voters’ rights are upheld.

In a statement, Madigan says 170 teams of assistant attorney generals and investigators will be deployed on Tuesday. She’s urging voters who suspect or encounter improper or illegal activity to call her office.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Madigan says voters have the right to vote if they’re in line any time between those hours.

She says voters also have a right to take unpaid time off work to vote, provided they’ve applied with their employer prior to election day and take no more than two hours.

Disabled voters or those with trouble understanding English have the right to get help casting their ballot.
