New Board and Council Members Ready To Begin

Galesburg-city-signNow that elections are over, a new District 205 School Board and Galesburg City Council will soon be seated. The newly elected candidates already have plans to get to work.

First Ward Alderman winner Angela Bastian says she wants to continue growth in economic development.

“I think we could expand on what we have here in terms of business opportunities, and invite others to come to this great community, and be a part of it–and help grow into what we want Galesburg to be–which one of those things is economic development, which obviously correlates with jobs.”

Newly elected board member Jean Ann Glasnovich says getting back to a teamwork mentality in District 205 is priority number one.

“I think for our district at this point, having been through a difficult strike and return to work agreement–I think the first thing we have to kind of get to, is to get our family issues in order,” says Glasnovich. “If I go back to my counseling situation for that perspective, is that we really need to pull everyone together and kind of get away from this us versus them attitude and mentality.”

Four new school board members and one new alderman were elected Tuesday night in Galesburg.
