Symphony Named Orchestra of the Year

knox symphonyThe Knox-Galesburg Symphony was recently recognized for its accomplishments on a state level.

The Illinois Council of Orchestras has named KGS a recipient of its 2015 Orchestra of the Year Award.

KGS is an unprecedented four time winner of the accolade. The ICO made the decision based on a number of criteria, including programming, opportunities for youth, fiscal responsibility, and community involvement and outreach.

ICO officials have awarded various awards to KGS over the years. The symphony has earned 15 additional awards throughout nine other categories such as, the Programming of the Year Award, and 3-time Conductor of Year Awards to artistic director and conductor Bruce Polay.

State Representative Don Moffitt will award to the symphony’s most recent honor at their upcoming concert on April 25th. The performance will be at held at the Orpheum Theater and begins at 7:30 p.m.
