Monmouth College President to be Inaugurated Friday

wyatt-stoneA local institution will name its 14th President later this week.

Dr. Clarence R. Wyatt will be officially named Monmouth College President this Friday.

Wyatt has served on campus since July of 2014, following his position as chief planning officer and special assistant to the president at Centre College. He is also a 1978 graduate of Centre College.

The incoming President will deliver a speech at the Inaugural ceremonies. The address is reportedly inspired by Abraham Lincoln’s message to Congress in 1862.

Wyatt draws on Lincoln’s words, he says “we must think anew and act anew, preparing our students to live empowered lives by these words.”

The Centre alum also holds the Pottinger Distinguished Professorship of History from the college.

Events are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on the Wallace Hall Plaza. In case of rain, the inauguration will be moved to the Huff Athletic Center.
