Illinois Wesleyan Student Accused of Selling Drugs From Dorm

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) — An Illinois Wesleyan University freshman is facing allegations that he sold large quantities of illegal drugs from his dorm room.

The Pantagraph reports the 18-year-old from Lexington faces felony drug charges. An arraignment is scheduled for April 24, and he was in the McLean County Detention Center as of Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say the student sold cocaine near the Illinois State University campus Friday to a police source working undercover, and that he was arrested shortly afterward. Normal Police Chief Rick Bleichner says the investigation began several weeks ago and that officers found drugs in the student’s dorm room.

Illinois Wesleyan spokesman Matt Kurz says the school is cooperating with authorities, and that it’s not something typically seen on campus.
