CHICAGO (AP) — The father of a 3-year-old girl found alone near a suburban Chicago forest preserve has been ordered held on a $300,000 bond.
Thirty-five-year-old Faiz Ikramulla was charged Wednesday with aggravated kidnapping. He is accused of abandoning his daughter in a trash can at a Prospect Heights forest preserve on April 7 and then driving away. The girl was found walking along a street.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office said the girl could only provide her first name and was identified after investigators learned her mother was filing a missing person reports for the child and Ikramulla.
Court records didn’t show he had hired an attorney. Ikramulla was extradited from Van Buren County Jail in Michigan earlier this week. A preliminary hearing is scheduled in Skokie on May 5.
