Man Accused of Online Extortion of Women Faces More Charges

EFFINGHAM, Ill. (AP) — An Illinois man indicted last year on accusations that he hacked online accounts of several women is now facing more charges, including child pornography.

The Effingham Daily News reports 23-year-old Stephen Mislich of Altamont is accused of twice coercing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct in order to produce a visual depiction in 2012. Authorities say Mislich distributed those depictions.

The indictment from a federal grand jury was filed in Benton on April 7, with an arraignment scheduled for Thursday. Authorities had earlier accused Mislich of terrorizing women through hacked online accounts by stealing sexually explicit photos of them and trying to coerce them into handing over more nude photos.

A message seeking comment was left with an attorney listed as representing Mislich.
