Monmouth College To Host Classics and Cleanup Days This Weekend

Monmouth CollegeA number of Monmouth College students and faculty will be busy this weekend, as two events are scheduled to take place Saturday.

The Monmouth Football team will be out and about in the community for its seventh straight Spring Cleanup Day.

More than 100 players will perform spring cleaning projects throughout the City of Monmouth, at no charge to residents.

Head coach Chad Braun says even with a large roster, only 18 requests can be guaranteed–due to the high demand the event has had each year.

Players will be cleaning homes and yards from 8 a.m. to noon.

Meanwhile, from 1 p,m, to 4, events will be on-going back on campus. Monmouth’s first annual Classics Day is being held at Zorn Memorial Stadium.

Ancient Greek Olympics, Greek and Roman military demonstrations, and chariot races, are just a few of the events scheduled. The event is being organized by assistant professor Robert Simmons, who recently received an award for his work using Outstanding Promotional Activity in the Classics.
