Orpheum Lobby Renovations To Move Offices Into Theater

Orpheum TheatreTwo weeks of lobby renovations will take place at the Orpheum Theater this June, but the results will be worth it.

That’s according to Executive Director Kevin Maynard, who says following the renovation work, all of the Orpheum offices will be able to move into spaces within the theater itself.

Temporary offices have been located near the Hill Arcade on Main Street in Galesburg for the time being. He says that all of the offices will consolidate into the theater for the first time in as long as he can remember.

Maynard tells WGIL that the move will slightly change the layout of the theater.

“Currently, when you walk into the theater–on the right is the concession stand, and to the left is the box office,” says Maynard. “We are going to flip that. After the renovations are done, to the right will be not only the ticket office, but also our offices and on the left will be the concession stand.”

Maynard says the theater will save around $9,000 per year with the move. He says re-configuring everything under one roof has been a plan of his since he began in 2013. The Orpheum moved its box office from the Hill Arcade last year to make way for Mel Foster Real Estate.

Maynard says saving time and money will be helpful–but overall, the guest he says, will now be able to “get the wonder of the theater when they purchase tickets or request information.” Renovations are scheduled to take place June 22nd through July 6.
