Hood, Mabel Nadine

Mabel Nadine Hood, 82, of Galesburg, died at 1:45 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.

Mabel was born July 10, 1932 in Chillicothe, MO, the daughter of Oliver Vernon and Helen Eunice Kasper Hutchinson.  She married Bruce W. Cutcher on November 8, 1952.  She later married Marion D. “Bud” Hood on March 16, 1963 in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on October 25, 1993.  Mabel is survived by two sons, Arthur B. (Jade) Cutcher of Springfield, MO and Danny R. Cutcher of Galesburg; one daughter, Debra A. Benefiel of Galesburg; eleven grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by one sister, Ruby Hutchinson of San Francisco, CA; and a sister in law, Verna Hutchinson of New Mexico.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon; one sister, Katherine Brown; and one granddaughter, Tammy Lou Smith.

Mabel was a homemaker.  Mabel enjoyed gardening, baking, and cooking.  She also enjoyed crocheting and quilting blankets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed going fishing with her husband, Bud.  Mabel was an early extreme couponer.  She had an entire room for her coupons.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.  Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg has been entrusted with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.  Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
