Geneva Police to Receive Pay Raises Under Proposed Contract

GENEVA, Ill. (AP) — Police in the Chicago suburb of Geneva would receive four years of pay raises but give up some pay for major holidays under a proposed contract.

The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports the Geneva City Council will vote on the proposed contract Monday.

A city council memo says members of the Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council have ratified the agreement.

It calls for a 2.25 percent salary increase in the first year, 2.5 percent in each of the following two years and 2.75 percent in the fourth year. Starting salary for an officer with no experience is $61,762 in the first year of the contract, which would take effect May 1.

The contract also reduces the number of holidays for which officers make 2.5 times their normal rate.
