Lavere Taylor, Judy

taylor, judyJudy Lavere Taylor, 75, of Galesburg, died at 8:57 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Marigold Health Care and Rehab, Galesburg.

Judy was born August 2, 1939 in Monmouth, the daughter of Joseph Owen and Zola Florence Long Woods.  She married Thomas William Smith on July 6, 1957.  She later married Charles Taylor in 1977.  He preceded her in death in 2007.  Judy is survived by one son, Joseph W. Smith of Galesburg; two daughters, Annette Smith-Ryner of Galesburg and Joyce (Lance) Smith-Wilson of Bettendorf, IA; and five grandchildren, Erica Lawson, Derek Ryner, Joseph Smith, II, Donavon Wilson, and Brianna Wilson.  Along with her husband and parents, Judy was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Woods, Jr. and Richard “Dick” Woods; and one sister, Margy Woods-Overstreet

Judy worked as a LPN for many years, working at many area nursing homes, hospitals, and clinics.  She was always worried about taking care of her son and finished her career caring for her handicapped son in his home.  Judy enjoyed music, crafts, and movies.  She loved to spoil her grandchildren.

Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded.  A memorial visitation will be 11-12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Prayers will be at 12:30 p.m.  Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate.  A celebration of life fellowship will follow prayers at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
