CHICAGO (AP) — The White Sox have promoted right-hander Scott Carroll from Triple-A Charlotte and placed reliever Matt Albers on the 15-day disabled list with a broken pinkie finger on his right hand.
The White Sox also designated left-hander Eric Surkamp for assignment before the resumption of a suspended game against Kansas City on Sunday.
Albers was injured in a benches-clearing brawl in the series opener Thursday. The right-hander has no record and a 1.59 ERA in four appearances this season.
Carroll went 5-10 with a 4.80 ERA in 26 games with the White Sox last year. He was 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA in three starts with the Knights at the time of his promotion.
