Carl Sandburg College to Offer More Degree Options

Carl Sandburg CollegeNew degree options are on the horizon for Carl Sandburg College.

Associate Dean of Career Technical and Health Education, Diana Higgins, says there are four new programs expecting to be in place in the near future.

One of the programs is the Advanced Electrical Certification available for the Automotive field.

Higgins tells the WGIL Evening News, that this certification is geared more towards mechanics already working in the industry.

“These are for individuals who maybe have two to three years experience under their belt,” says Higgins. “Instead of them being sent away for that industry specific–Ford, Chevy kind of training, we can do it here locally.”

Higgins says the idea behind these advanced classes is to bring in the hybrid cars.

The certification is four classes for a total of 13 credit hours.

Classes will be held in the spring and may be available as early as spring 2016.

Other programs becoming available in the next few years at Carl Sandburg College include two new degrees in Railroad Science and four certifications for Information and Communication Technology.

Degree options for Medical and Legal Administrative Office Professionals will also be made available by fall 2016. The Medical and Legal Administrative degrees will be a year extension of the certification program.
