Demonstrators March in Chicago to Protest Police Actions

CHICAGO (AP) — Hundreds of protesters are marching around Chicago to express outrage with a number of shootings by police across the country.

Demonstrators gathered at Chicago police headquarters on the city’s South Side late Tuesday, before setting off on a march that blocked traffic. The demonstrators defied police on bicycles, who tried to convince them to use sidewalks.

Among the crowd was the brother of Rekia Boyd, who was killed by an off-duty Chicago police officer in 2012. The officer was recently acquitted of manslaughter by a Cook County judge, who hinted Officer Dante Servin should have been charged with murder.

Boyd’s brother, Martinez Sutton, said he does not hate police officers, but is angry because the guilty have been allowed to walk free.
