Knox College Surprises Campus with Flunk Day Activities

Knox Flunk DayKnox College students and faculty awoke with surprise this morning as celebration of the annual Flunk Day began.

A selected group of seniors walk the streets of campus screaming and banging pots and pans to signify the beginning of the festival.

Knox College Chief Communication Officer , Megan Scott, says the tradition of Flunk Day dates back to the early 1900’s .

On Flunk Day, all classes and meetings are cancelled so everyone can enjoy the spring weather and the festivities planned for the day.

Scott tells WGIL that every year has a theme and this years was “Jurrasic Flunk.”

“There’s a number of activities throughout the day,” says Scott. “We’ve had some dinosaur blowups that have been around campus, and people have been taking selfies and photos with those.”

The student body is unaware of when Flunk Day will be held until the day arrives.

Throughout the day, different activities are scheduled for students and faculty to participate in.

This morning they had giant tricycle races and inflatable slides.Tonight they have planned a stand-up comedy show by Dave Coulier.

Some students lined up to enjoy the activities planned for the day, while many sat around the campus enjoying the day off with friends.
