Galesburg Farmers Market Just Around the Corner

galesburg farmers marketThe parking lot on Simmons street will be filling up with the Galesburg Farmer’s Market beginning on May 2nd.

The market season will run every Saturday through Halloween weekend from 8 am to noon.

Galesburg Farmer’s Market Manager, Kathy Bennett, says some new products may be added this year.

Bennett tells WGIL some of the products available such as fresh fish, produce and handmade jewelry.

“You’ll have vendors with produce, meat–as in lamb, and beef “says Bennett. “Sitka Salmon will be coming to the market with a variety of fresh fish. There will be a lady that has produced some barbecue sauce, handmade jewelry, fresh flowers, and cedar planter boxes. There will be a gentlemen in and out who sharpens knives and garden tools as well.”

Bennett says this year she expects an increase in fresh flowers.

Over 20 vendors will be present throughout the Farmer’s Market season.

Bennett says most are from the local area, but some are coming here from Kirkwood or Canton.

While citizens wander around the Galesburg Farmer’s Market, live local music will also be played.

Vendors can sign up for $15 per week, or for $150 for the entire season.
