Local Humanitarian Larry Miller Passes Away

A Galesburg man passed away on Monday night in Raleigh, West Virginia.Larry Miller loved helping the community.

Miller owned a chain of insurance agencies between Galesburg and Peoria called Miller Dredge Insurance Agency.

A friend of Miller’s, Marv Dahlberg, says Miller was an active member of the Rotary Club and Lions Club. Dahlberg tells WGIL that Miller would attend every national convention and even some international ones.

“Larry was, to the best of my knowledge, the only rotarian for the last 9 years that’s attended every one of the national conventions, and some of which were international,” says Dahlberg. “He was in London and he was all over the place.”

Dahlberg has been friends with Miller since 1980 and they were business friends and fishing buddies. Dahlberg says Miller loved to go fishing and sailing when he could.

Miller worked as an advisor for the Russian Government as well, helping them set up regulations for Insurance.

Dahlberg says Miller was always trying to help people and would even go overseas to help out during Natural Disasters. Dahlberg describes Miller as an energetic, outstanding person who was “always willing to stand up for other people.”
