Elander, James “Rick” R.

Mr. James R. “Rick” Elander, 71, of Galesburg died at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.

He was born October 17, 1943 in Galesburg the son of John and Dorcas Mitchell Elander. He married Joan M. Cooper on July 16, 1963 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2005. He later married Nancy S. Trulock Price on August 30, 2006 in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Natalie (Mark) Musselman of Brookville, Ohio and Larry (Nadine) Elander of Arkansas and his step daughter, Tiffiny (Don) Pool of Blandinsville, Illinois and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and one sister.

He worked in security for the State of Illinois in a mental health facility for 14 years. He also was a Sgt. at Henry C. Hill Prison for 15 years. He retired in 2001. Rick graduated from Santa Inez Union High school in Solvang, California in 1962. He was a member of the Covenant Church. Rick was an avid fisherman and loved to travel. He enjoyed going to the river to look for eagles.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Tom Ek will officiate. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
