Bunker Links Prospering This Golf Season

Bunker LinksArea golfers are steadily making it out to the greens this season, at least at a local course.

Bunker Links in Galesburg has reportedly seen good numbers so far this season, as golfers are playing the rounds now that the weather is warming.  That’s according to Golf Pro Brian Luedtke, who says facility improvements and additional events have been made available to players this season, thanks to aid from the city, who now owns the course.

This is Luedtke’s first season as pro at the links, since he officially began last year.

Luetdke tells WGIL, that the municipally owned course has made a number of improvements to its clubhouse in his first year.

“We’ve done some things to the inside of the building, just some improvements where we put up some slat wall for some merchandise displays and we put in a new computer system so we can track rounds and revenue better and the reporting is really good,” says Luetdke.  “We painted and cleaned and we also created a new logo, and that’s been real exciting for our players also.”

Luetdke says new golf carts that were purchased last year have been a popular new feature with customers as well.

The course has already held a handful of events since the course opened this season, however more are in the works. A seniors only tournament is reportedly coming up this June.

Luetdke says overall, “the season is off to a good start.”
