Cunningham, RoyalMr. Royal R. Cunningham, 97, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 4:55 PM Friday May 8, 2015 at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois.

He was born on June 3, 1917 in Edina, Missouri to R. R. “Ted” and Pansy Carmean Cunningham.  He married Darlene Edma Perry in Lancaster, Missouri on October 12, 1938.  She preceded him in death on June 22, 1998.

He is survived by two daughters, Kelle L. Smith and Patricia Darlene McDorman, both of Galesburg; three grandchildren, Scott Smith of Knoxville, Christopher (and Brittany) Smith of Galesburg and Kymm (and Bob) Pendry of Galesburg, seven great-grandchildren including Ami Sinnott and Josh Pendry and three great, great grandchildren.

He was a receiving inspector at Admiral Division of Maytag for 30 years, retiring in June, 1985.  He was a car salesman for Windish Motors, Nash Motors and Grand Avenue and Main Street Used Cars.

He was of the Methodist faith.   He was a member of the Machinists Union #2063.  He loved being with his family, yard sales and was a great fan of Randy Travis.  He was also known for passing out candy to everyone.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with pastor Lonnie Sheldon officiating.  Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the chapel.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to American Legion Baseball or Knox County Humane Society.  Online condolences may be left at www.h-p-w.com.
