Father of Slain 12-year-old Quincy Boy Starts Foundation

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) – The family of a 12-year-old Quincy boy who was shot dead in March has created a foundation in his memory.The Quincy Herald-Whig reports Ray Humphrey Jr.’s father’s ultimate goal is to build a Boys and Girls Club in Quincy. Ray Humphrey Jr. was shot to death in Quincy on March 28. Police have made an arrest in the killing.

A lot of people have been contacting his family with ideas for honoring the boy. A band wants to put on a concert and another group wants a flag football tournament.

Ray Humphrey Sr. launched the nonprofit “Ray’s World” with a Facebook page and a bank account. He also envisions a summer junior police academy for children to interact with officers.
