Monmouth-Roseville School Board Discusses Budget Options

Monmouth-Roseville School DistrictAt tonight’s Monmouth-Roseville School Board Meeting, an amended budget for the Fiscal Year 2015 will be introduced.
Superintendent Ed Fletcher says there are no plans for budget cuts toward programs or activities.

Fletcher says the expenditure is not the problem, but the revenue.State Funding cuts made an impact on Monmouth-Roseville, as they heavily rely on those funds for revenue.

Fletcher tells WGIL that at tonight’s meeting, they are going to discuss the decrease in revenue for educational funds and transportation.

“With this tentative amended budget, we’re looking at an actual increase in our Ed. fund deficit of about $100,000 and in transportation we are looking at revenue shortage of $124,653,” says Fletcher.

Fletcher says they will continue to look at expenditure, but does not want to cut programs at the expense of the students’ education. In prior year, personnel cuts were made, since that is where a majority of funds go towards. Fletcher says they are as tight as they can be with staff and doesn’t suggest any more cuts.

Fletcher says he will recommend that the Board hold the Amended Budget Hearing on June 16th at 6:45 prior to the regularly scheduled meeting at 7pm. He expects the Board to approve this time and date.
